How to Pay Your Vehicle Token Tax in Pakistan (2026 Online & Offline Guide)

How-to-Pay-Your-Vehicle-Token-Tax

While the Government has made some unreasonable increments to the token tax payments for your vehicles, we still have to pay. In the past, paying your vehicle token tax used to be synonymous with wasting an entire day standing in line at the Excise and Taxation office. Thankfully, the process has been heavily digitized across Pakistan. However, with different apps for different provinces and recent software updates, figuring out where to pay can still be a headache. Whether you prefer tapping a few buttons on your smartphone or completing the process in person, here is the ultimate guide to how to pay your vehicle token tax in 2026.

How to Pay Your Vehicle Token Tax in Pakistan

1. Islamabad: The “Pak App” Transition

If your vehicle is registered in the capital territory, the digital landscape has recently shifted, causing a bit of confusion for residents.

Here is what you need to know:

  • The City Islamabad App is Gone: The previously popular City Islamabad application has been discontinued.
  • The CDA App is No Use: While the Capital Development Authority has its own app, do not bother downloading it for this specific task. There are so many bugs; it’s just a waste of time.
  • The Solution is the Pak App: You must now use the newly designated Pak App for federal vehicle taxes. The transition is actually quite seamless because the Pak App works perfectly with your old City Islamabad app credentials. You do not need to create a new account. Just log in with your existing details, navigate to the vehicle tax section, and generate your payment slip (PSID).

2. Online Payment Methods by Province

If your car is registered outside the capital, each province has its own dedicated digital portal. In most cases, these apps will generate a unique Payment Slip ID (PSID) that you can easily pay using your standard mobile banking app, JazzCash, or Easypaisa.

Punjab

For Punjab-registered vehicles, the ePay Punjab application is the gold standard.

  • Simply download the app or visit their web portal to register an account.
  • Select the “Excise and Taxation” tab, input your vehicle registration number, and the system will automatically calculate your token tax, including any applicable Capital Value Tax (CVT) or Withholding Tax.
  • Generate the PSID and pay via mobile banking, internet banking, or even an ATM.

Sindh

The Government of Sindh has significantly streamlined its web services.

  • You can visit the official Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department tax portal.
  • Use the “Quick Pay” or “Online Tax Payment” features to clear your dues.
  • The portal supports direct payments via debit/credit cards and digital wallets, making the process virtually instant.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK)

For KPK, the Zama KP smartphone application is the official gateway. It functions very similarly to ePay Punjab, allowing you to enter your vehicle’s registration details to generate a PSID for mobile banking payments.

Balochistan

While Balochistan’s standalone app infrastructure is still developing, online payments are becoming much easier thanks to third-party fintech integration.

  • Pro-Tip: Mobile wallets like JazzCash have dedicated “Government Payments” sections that support token tax clearing for various provinces natively within their app, serving as a great backup option if provincial portals are down.

3. The Traditional Route: In-Person Payments

If you are uncomfortable with digital banking or need to clear up discrepancies (like transferring ownership while paying the tax), the offline methods are still fully operational.

To pay in person, you will need your original vehicle registration book/smart card and a copy of your CNIC. You can visit:

  • Excise & Taxation Offices: Every district has a central E&T office. Be prepared to go early in the morning to avoid the worst of the queues.
  • Designated Banks: Branches of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and the State Bank of Pakistan are authorized to collect government receipts.
  • Pakistan Post Offices: Many major post offices across the country have dedicated counters for motor vehicle tax collection.

Verdict

There is absolutely no reason to default on your token tax or pay a hefty commission to an agent in 2026. If your car is registered in Islamabad, simply transition to the Pak App using your old login. For everyone else, downloading your respective provincial app will save you hours of frustration and keep you safely on the right side of the law
