Hurmat Initial Review: Can Dananeer Mobeen & Debutant Shahveer Jafry Rescue HUM TV’s Season?

Hurmat initial review: Dananeer Mobeen and Shahveer Jafry in HUM TV drama

Welcome to our Hurmat initial review. HUM TV needed a fresh hit. On 5 October 2026 it bet on a meme queen turned actress and a YouTuber who had never acted on TV before. That drama is Hurmat.

HUM TV | Dananeer Mobeen, Shahveer Jafry, Javed Sheikh, Ali Tahir, Anoushay Abbasi | Writer: Kashif Anwar | Director: Nadeem Siddiqui

It’s a Momina Duraid production, and it airs Monday and Tuesday at 8pm. The first few episodes are out. Here’s our early verdict.

1. The Story So Far

Episode one opens with our heroine in prison. Then it jumps back to explain how she got there.

The premise is somewhat good. A girl fighting her family for the right to study is a story worth telling, and opening in a prison cell gives it urgency. The problem is where the drama is taking it. The direction is already irking audiences, and it risks losing the very point it started with.

2. Dananeer Mobeen: Not Ready to Carry It Yet

Dananeer has charm and screen presence, but she isn’t a strong enough lead yet to carry a serious-toned drama like this. Hurmat needs a heroine who can hold the weight of a prison cell and a controlling father, and so far the heavier scenes feel bigger than her.

3. Shahveer Jafry’s Debut: Verdict Pending

This is the gamble, and we don’t think it’s a good one. Shahveer has millions of followers, but YouTube sketches and serious TV are different sports. Putting a newbie in the main lead beside a heroine who is still finding her feet leaves the drama without an anchor.

Still, it’s early. We’ll wait and see, and give them both until episode 8 before passing final judgment.

4. What’s Working and What Isn’t

Hurmat Initial Review: Our Verdict

Initial rating: 5/10 (based on initial impressions). Hurmat has a premise with promise and a message Pakistan still needs to hear: a daughter’s education isn’t a threat to the family’s izzat. But the direction is irking audiences; Dananeer isn’t yet strong enough to carry a drama this serious, and casting a newbie as the main lead beside her isn’t helping. We’ll wait and see if it finds its footing.

Are you watching Hurmat? And what do you think of Shahveer’s acting so far? Let me know in the comments!
