Goonj Review: Komal Meer Deserved a Better Ending Than This

drama-goonj-review

It is finally over. Hum TV’s Goonj and we are here with the Goonj review. This drama that promised to be the Zindagi Gulzar Hai of the corporate world—aired its final episode last week. And if you are feeling underwhelmed, you are not the only one. For 28 weeks, we watched Zarnab (Komal Meer) fight a lonely battle against the toxic, manipulative Nabeel (Gohar Rasheed). We tuned in for justice. But did the finale actually give us justice? Or did it just give us a lecture?

Here is our honest breakdown of the end.

1. Goonj Review – The “Rush Job” Resolution

The biggest problem with Episode 29 was the pacing. The writers spent 10 episodes dragging out the “HR Investigation” arc, only to wrap up the actual court verdict in 5 minutes.

2. Komal Meer Carried the Script

Let’s be clear: This show would have flopped in Week 5 if it wasn’t for Komal Meer. In the finale, the scene where she tells her father (Khaled Anum) that she “doesn’t regret speaking up” was the highlight of the episode.

3. The “Ahmed” Problem (Feroze Kadri)

The romantic angle with Ahmed (Feroze Kadri) felt forced till the very last second. Why do our dramas insist that a woman’s victory is incomplete without a wedding ring? Zarnab had just won a massive legal battle. The ending should have been about her standing tall in her career. Instead, the final shot was… a wedding proposal? It diluted the message. We wanted to see her as a CEO, not just a bride.

4. Gohar Rasheed: The Villain We Loved to Hate

Credit where it’s due—Gohar Rasheed was phenomenal. He played Nabeel not as a cartoon villain, but as the realistic “Nice Guy” predator who gaslights everyone. His lack of remorse in the final scene was chilling and probably the most realistic part of the episode.

The Verdict

Rating: 3.5/5 Stars. “Goonj” started as a roar but ended as a whisper. It raised important questions about HR politics and harassment, but it was too afraid to give us a truly radical ending. Watch it for Komal Meer’s acting class. Skip the last 10 minutes if you hate forced romances.

Did you find Nabeel’s punishment satisfying? Let me know in the comments.
